Imagine being in Argentina, and all you can do is go outside, look at the sun, visit a park, and talk with one person per week. That’s all you can do. Would you like to experience that? just being alone here in Argentina?

Well, if you only speak English here, you’ll be constantly dependent on someone else. You won’t be able to fully enjoy your time because you don’t speak the language. You’ll always need to call a friend, a translator, or someone who can help you navigate your life here in Argentina. If you’re okay with that, then fine. It’s a good idea, but you’d have to spend money, waste time, and do things slower than if you spoke Spanish.

But it’s not just about money and time. It’s also about enjoyment. If you want to have the best experience here in Argentina, you need to learn Spanish. The best experiences come when you connect with people, and traveling is much better when you speak the language. Without Spanish, you’ll have many problems. You won’t be able to communicate with people. If you have a family, it will be even harder. If you have a girlfriend here in Argentina, it will be even worse. You’ll be calling her every day, asking how to say things or where to go. You’ll constantly rely on others for help with basic things, and that will waste a lot of your time. Time you could be spending enjoying life with your family, on your own, or with your girlfriend.

One of the main reasons to learn Spanish is to gain independence. Without it, you will not be free in Argentina. You’ll be constantly depending on someone else. Imagine some Argentinians invite you to have a mate with them, and you’re sitting there, alone, unable to say a single word because you don’t speak Spanish. That would be pretty sad, don’t you think?

If you don’t want that experience, focus on learning Spanish. If you put in the work, you’ll succeed in Argentina and live a beautiful life here.
